ZAMBOANGA CITY, Apr. 11, (PIA) - - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) central office issued directive to DSWD IX to conduct community assemblies in areas in the region not yet covered by the Pantawid Pamilya Program of the department. DSWD 9 in a press statement said the purpose of the conduct of community assemblies is to register potential beneficiaries for the expansion of the Pantawid Program.
The press statement further said that community assemblies should be conducted in the areas not yet covered by the Pantawid Program.
Areas not yet covered by the program include: Pagadian City and Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, Diplahan, Imelda an Buug.
DSWD in its press statement said , “the program will cater to 10,479 beneficiaries in Pagadian, while Ipil will have additional 5,979 beneficiaries.”
“Other areas in Sibugay such as Imelda, will have 1,800 beneficiaries, Diplahan 2,348, and Buug 3,130,” the press statement further reads.
Existing municipality-beneficiaries of the Pantawid will have additional slots to register as recipients to the program to wit the municipalities of Bayog will have 202 additional beneficiaries, Dumalinao with 456, Tambulig 480, Malangas 504, Olutanga 517 and Payao 448 .
To strengthen the implementation of the Pantawid Program expansion, DSWD and the Local Government Unit (LGU) concerned signed a MOA for the purpose.
Present during the recent MOA signing was the Deputy National Project Director for Operations, Undersecretary Parisya Hashim Taradji with Hon. Eldwin Alibutdan, Mayor of Ipil Zamboanga Sibugay, Hon. Eric Bersales, City Councilor and Chairman for Commitee on Social Services of Pagadian City, and Board Member Hon. Flordeliz Curiba, representing Hon. Romeo M. Jalosjos Jr., Representative of the 2nd District of Zamboanga Sibuagay (JPA/JLE/DSWD9/PIA-9 ZBST)
