Pagadian upgrades as “Wifi City”

By Leah D. Agonoy

PAGADIAN CITY, April 11 - - - “We are the first wifi city in the country”

Pagadian City Mayor Samuel S. Co declared after the recent launching of “Wifi ng Pagadian” at the City Hall Complex here.

Accordingly, the city will have to observe the test run after the wifi was initially installed inside the City Hall compound and may be accessed by the public within the 500-meter radius from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

“However, during office hours, the wifi will be exclusively used by the City Hall offices to speed up transactions in the different departments,” the mayor explained.

He further said that additional wifi installations will be done on vital government structures like the City Commercial Center (C3), Fish Port and Rotunda, among others. Co said he will be targeting all the urban barangays to become wifi zones.

“People living around said structures may enjoy the privilege by using the password ‘mayorsammyco,’ ” he said.

“With this, we will again be known to have it first in our city. First, we had the first mall owned by a city government; second; we had the Dancing Fountain.’’

“For now, we are the first Wifi City,” the mayor proudly said. (LDA/PIA9/ALT)
