DIPOLOG CITY, MARCH 20(PIA)--- The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dipolog City is now reviewing the City Ordinance entitled “Protection Hours for Minors” which imposes curfew hours for minors.
The members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod wanted to review the said ordinance to institute amendments for its strict implementation and compliance. However, the SP believes that the ordinance’s defects are just minor and can’t invalidate an ordinance that is anchored on the welfare of the children.
The review was done was done, after Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy reminded the Dipolog City Police Office and the Sangguniang Panlungsod to look into the implementation of the curfew hours for minors.
Mayor issued the appeal after numerous reports have reached her office concerning a number of minors, particularly girls under below 15 years old still roaming around late in the evening after a drinking spree up to the wee hours of the morning.
Mayor also lamented that minors are even allowed to buy liquor in various bars and business establishments, even after 10 o’clock in the evening.
The City Chief Executive that this situation should be stopped.”
“ Dili maayong impluwensiya ang paglakaw-lakaw sa mga kabataan sa panahon sa kagabhion mga walay kuyog nga mga ginikanan tungod kay dali pa kinsila ma-impluwensiyahan sa mga dautang elemento ug barkada,” matod pa ni Mayor Uy.
In its regular session last March 15, 2012, the Sangguniang Panlungsod has invited the personnel of the Dipolog PNP Women’s and Children’s Desk, City Legal Officer and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Officer to shed on the ordinance entitled “Protection Hours for Minors.”
The said ordinance, authored by Councilor Atty. Cyril Ruiz was passed into law with the hope that it would put to stop minors roaming around late in the evening. (ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
