March 23 - - -AGHAM Party-List Rep. Angelo B. Palmones is appealing to inventors to focus on coming up with programs and projects that will strengthen support for inventors in developing inventions and technologies that can address pressing environmental and economic concerns.
“The government agency mandated to provide support to inventions and inventors is the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (TAPI-DOST). It has an Invention Development Division which extends an array of support and services to our inventors,” Palmones said.
Palmones said inventors can avail of support from TAPI’s invention-based enterprise development program for developing the inventor’s invention into an enterprise commodity, and industry-based invention development program for funding of inventions with industry application. He added, TAPI conducts the annual invention contests and exhibits to recognize outstanding inventions and innovations.
“However, for 2011 TAPI modified the annual event by bringing it to the different regions in the country for wider dissemination and broader exposure of the country’s ingenious talents,” Palmones said.
Palmones reiterated his appeal for the inventors to work closely with TAPI to promote and advance technological developments for the benefit of the country.
“I believe in the ingenuity of our Filipino inventors. Many of them have developed technologies which could be of relevance to issues affecting the country right now such as energy, environment, health etc. So I appeal to them to work with TAPI-DOST because it is the government agency mandated to assist them,” Palmones said.
He added focusing on mutually beneficial programs and activities can help promote inventors’ welfare as well as transcend individual differences to create a more harmonious and productive work relationships. (Vicky B. Bartilet/DOST/PIA9/ALT)
