Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, January 18 - - - Ninety-four (94) Special Citizens Active Auxiliary (SCAA) of the 4th Zamboanga del Sur SCAA company were formally activated in a ceremony held last Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Barangay Poblacion here.
The said occasion was attended by Governor Antonio H. Cerilles as guest of honor and speaker, local officials headed by Mayor Leonardo L. Babasa Jr.; Barangay Chairman Horace Paul T. Anlap; military officials led by Col Gerado F. Barrientos (GSC) Commander, 102 BDE, IID, PA; LTC Bagnus T. Gaerlan (GSC) Commanding Officer, 5IB, 11D, PA; LTC Nasser M. Pendatun, Commander 53rdIB, IID, PA; Rene T. Subido, VP, Corporate Social Commitment, Col Nolito Navarro (Ret) Security Manager, TVI Canatuan and Col Valentin Edang (Ret), OIC Pre-Development, TVI Balabag.
These SCAAs underwent Basic Military Training for 45 days at Barangay Romarate, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur under Maj Edgardo Amores, Executive Officer of the 5IB after which they will be under the operational control of the 102 Brigade based in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay under Col Barrientos.
After the activation ceremony, the SCAAs were immediately deployed to Sitio Balabag, Barangay Depore, Bayog to secure and protect vital installations of TVI Balabag and its surroundings. (BAG/ALT-PIA9/Zambo Sur)
