DIPOLOG CITY, June
22 (PIA) - - Around 30 coconut farmers here have recently received coconut
seedlings from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).
PCA staff Ariel
Tomong told the Philippine Information Agency (PCA) that these coconut farmers
were coming from barangays Punta, Sinaman, Sangkol and Diwan, all of this city.
Tomong also
disclosed that the PCA gave these farmers some 6,000 coconut seedlings to be
planted in their respective farms.
It was also learned
that PCA personnel would be monitoring the growth of the coconut seedlings five
months after these were planted. “Each ‘stabilized seedling’ entitles the
coconut farmer to some monetary incentive at P16.00 per heel from the PCA,”
explained Tomong.
PCA also provides
the farmers with free salt fertilizers for their coconut plantation.
