Pagadian City, May 10 - - - As GSIS
launched its educational assistance program on May 2, almost 1,000 members here
have applied and 500 of these applications have already been processed awaiting
transmittal and e-crediting from GSIS Manila starting today, May 10.
The educational assistance program will
run until December 28 this year to help members shoulder the education expenses
of their children up to the second semester of the school year.
Under the GSIS assistance program, all
active members of the pension fund, regardless of salary grade, are entitled to
Php4,000, payable within five years at six percent (6%) interest rate.
The monthly
payment is only Php20.00 through salary deduction and first payment of the loan
will start three months after the grant.
Further, the pension fund will neither
require electronic certification from the employer nor charge any service fee,
which means that members will get the full loan amount.
Members may apply personally or through
their office’s liaison officer. They may file their application through the
following -- any GSIS office; designated agency liaison officer; and the
GSIS website,www.gsis.gov.ph, where the forms can be downloaded.

visit the nearest GSIS office.
Meanwhile, to better serve its members,
GSIS will hold a pre-retirement counselling tomorrow, May 11, from 9:00 A.M. to
11:00 A. M. at the 4th floor of the GSIS Bldg. along Pajares Avenue.
Interested parties may see Ms. Marvic Joy T. Ababol and Ms. Ma. Christine
Torres.
Members who are planning to retire or
those aged 59-65 are encouraged to attend so they will know their benefits,
retirement mode/laws as well as other updates on the pension fund’s programs.
