ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 10, (PIA) - - City Police OIC Director PCSupt. Mario Yanga has
underscored the need for continuous community support to anti-crime efforts, as
he reiterated his call for people to help law enforcement authorities in
addressing problems on criminality.
While the number of shooting incidents has
greatly reduced the past days, Gen. Yanga said the police are still trying to
muster adequate support from the community.
“The support of the community spearheaded
by the mayor is very vital, so we have seen the efforts of the mayor and now it
is the turn of the community to rally behind the leadership of Mayor Lobregat
and support the police in order for us to totally address this problem
especially on shooting incidents”, the Police OIC Director said in an interview
after the city government turned over to him 7 complete set of computer units
for the PNP’s E-blotter program Tuesday morning.
According to Yanga, there have been
breakthroughs in the anti-crime efforts following the series of raids conducted
in barangay Recodo. “There is an improvement in as far as peace and order is
concerned in Recodo and with the dismantling of the Alih drug group”.
Yanga declared that crime incidents have
greatly reduced in Recodo as well as in the nearby barangays because of the
breakthroughs in the anti-crime campaign undertaken jointly by the local police
and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
“So we hope to experience better peace and
order condition with the implementation of other plans similar to Recodo but
this time it will be here within the periphery of the city proper”, the police
OIC director declared.
He added that the support and cooperation
of all people is a must. (JPA/SC/CIO/PIA9-ZBST)
