25(PIA)--- In line
with the celebration of the International World Red Cross and World Crescent
Day on May 8, the Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga del Norte Chapter has reiterated
its appeal to the public to donate blood.
PRC-Zamboanga
del Norte Chapter Administrator Joshua Bicoy said, the purpose of the
celebration is to highlight the task of the members and the volunteers to save
lives and help the needy communities all over the world.
With
the theme: Youth on the Move, the local PRC will conduct various activities on
May 7 to disseminate information about the International Humanitarian Law and the Red
Cross Movement leadership development activities for the youth on life-saving events
like the Summer Safety Institute for Youth aging 8 to 25 years old and to conduct
mass blood donation drive.
Anent
to this, Bicoy urges every individual or groups to donate blood on May 8 at Lee
Plaza Central from 9 o’clock in the morning to 5 o’clock in the afternoon.
Bicoy
pointed out that qualified to donate blood are those aging 18to 65 years old, must
weight 50 kilos and not anemic nor high blood and should have not taken any
medicine or alcoholic drinks within 24 hours before the blood letting session.
Bicoy
urges anybody who is interested to donate blood to visit the local PRC office at
the Provincial Capitol Complex, Estaka Dipolog City and contact Mr. Nidoh
