ZAMBOANGA CITY,
April 26 (PIA) - - Information Center Managers (ICMs) from Zamboanga del Norte,
Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City-Basilan-Sulu and Tawi-Tawi (ZAMBASULTA)
have converged here yesterday and today for
the second quarter management conference.
PIA-IX Regional
Director Noemi Bernardino-Edaga sent for her ICMs to discuss the first quarter
accomplishments of each staff and the new directives, programs and activities
to be implemented starting this second quarter.
Director Edaga also
invited a staff from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-IX to brief the ICMs on
programs and activities pursued by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction
Management Council (RDRRMC)-IX.
The ICMs have also
been directed to continue bridging the communication gap between the public and
the national government agencies (NGAs) as well as the local government units
(LGUs) through the text blast project wherein all bits of information on
government programs, policies, accomplishments and pronouncements shall be
disseminated through short messaging service (SMS) to all sectors in the
society.
Today, the ICMs
will work on natural disaster management communication plan covering disaster
preparedness, prevention, response and mitigation.
All the three ICMs,
namely Felipo David Malcampo of ZAMBASULTA, Franklin P. Gumapon of Zamboanga
del Norte and Claro A. Lanipa of Zamboanga del Sur attended said conference. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga
