DIPOLOG CITY, April
22 (PIA) - - Special with autism, intellectual disability, learning disability,
visual impairment, hearing impairment, cerebral palsy, down syndrome and others
have recently converged here for the 8th Camp Journey 2012
spearheaded by the Club Journey Volunteers, Inc.
Some 100 campers
consisting of volunteers and special children from the cities of Manila,
Zamboanga, Davao, Dipolog, Dapitan and other places in country participated in
the 10-day activity which aimed to provide these children with the needed
exposures to let the public know that they are a part of the society.
The 8th
Camp Journey 2012 was held at the Dipolog Pilot Demonstration School (DPDS)
here in the city with the all-out support by the city leadership headed by
Mayor Evelyn T. Uy and the parents.
The organizers also
expressed their gratitude to the local officials and parents for their
invariable support in making the activity a success.
In a related
development, the city government of Dipolog has extended full support to the
Special Education (SPED) program of the Department of Education (DepED) that
caters to children with special needs.
To effectively
provide the special children with the needed learning facilities, the city
government has given the SPED center new classrooms for special learners.
