WESCOM joins Peacock Jaycees for the MP4 run

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Mar 23 (PIA) – The Western Command (WESCOM), showed full support to the 3-kilometer Charity Book Run dubbed as “MP4, Makabuluhang Pagtakbo at Pagtulong Para sa mga Paaralan” held last March 11, 2012. The book-raising-run started and ended at Baywalk, Barangay San Isidro, Puerto Princesa City.

The said activity aimed to unite the Palaweňos in order to raise books that will benefit the selected public schools in the province such as Tagumpay National High school, Napsan Elementary School and Langogan Elementary School.

This was a project of JCI Puerto Princesa Peacock Inc. or Peacock Jaycees with a mission of contributing to the advancement of the global community by providing opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, social responsibility and fellowship necessary to create positive change in partnership with the City Government of Puerto Princesa.

The military has sent a participating contingent of its own in connection with the AFP Campaign Plan IPSP “Bayanihan” which has the involvement of all stakeholders and will eventually pave the way for the ultimate goal of a sustainable peace and development.

WESCOM also provided transportation assistance, medical assistance with ambulance and helped in maintaining the security and safety of all the participants.

Over a hundred soldiers and personnel from Team WESCOM, 570th Composite Tactical Wing (570th CTW) and Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST) joined the other 800 runners who participated and supported the 3-Kilometer book-raising-run. (6CRGAFP/RVC-PIA-9 ZBST)
