ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 15 (PIA 9) - - Members of the Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) will have additional health benefits and wider medical coverage said Nadzmir Sajili, of PhilHealth, this goes along with the 100 percent hike in Philhealth contribution starting this year.
Sajili said the increase in premium contribution will benefit the members as the office will sway out wider medical coverage extending to outpatient benefits, maintenance medicines for diabetic and hypertensive patients and other additional benefits like more PhilHealth packages and a lot more.
He said that it is about time that PhilHealth raise members’ health contribution since the office did not raise its premium since 1995.
He however advised PhilHealth members to advance their contribution before the month of July so they can still avail of the old contribution of P1,200 per year.
He said the LGU sponsored PhilHealth program, self-employed and the individually paying Overseas Workers Program are included in the new premium hike coverage.
The increase is based under PhilHealth Circular No. 22 series of 2011 signed by PhilHealth President Dr. Eduardo Banzon. (JPA / PIA ZBST)
