ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 14(PIA 9) - - Social Welfare department conducted 6 o’clock this morning a poverty awareness-effort family fun walk dubbed “Caminada Contra Pobresa,” (walk against poverty).
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Information Officer Narrabelle Bue said the fun walk was aimed at creating public awareness on the poverty alleviation efforts of the government thru DSWD and enjoin public support to the poverty reduction programs being implemented by the department like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.
The family fun walk was participated in by DSWD staff and their respective families. The participants marched the stretched of RTLim boulevard down to Paseo del Mar where a dance exercise “hataw” was conducted.
The fun walk forms part of the department’s month-long celebration of its 61st anniversary.
“Anchored on this year’s anniversary theme “tuloy-tuloy sa kaunlaran,” DSWD with its committed and dedicated staff will continue to uphold the passion in assisting the poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable until they become self-sufficient an empowered, and with improved quality of lives.” said Bue.
