DIPOLOG CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) - - A total of P980 thousand has been turned-over recently by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-IX to the city government of Dipolog and the provincial office of the Department Trade and Industry (DTI) for livelihood projects.
DOLE-IX Regional Director Ponciano M. Ligutom personally handed a check worth P480 thousand to Mayor Evelyn T. Uy and another check amounting to P500 thousand to DTI-Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Director Noel R. Bazan during a Special Program for the Employment (SPES) pledging activity held Tuesday at the Top Plaza Hotel in this city.
The city government of Dipolog served as DOLE-IX’s accredited co-partner (ACP) in a garment making project for unemployed women and housewives in the city.
Mayor Uy said the P480 thousand would be utilized in the acquisition of equipment for the garment making project.
DTI-Zamboanga del Norte, on the other hand, disclosed that the P500 thousand would be used in enhancing the bottled sardines project at Barangay Dohinob, Roxas, Zamboanga del Norte.
Witnessing the turnover of funds to DOLE’s ACPs were the Public Employment Service Officers (PESOs) of the different local government units (LGUs) in Zamboanga del Norte and national government agencies (NGAs) based in the province, guidance counselors of the local colleges and high schools, and the officers of the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) of Dipolog.
