Regional Science & Tech Fair slated in Dipolog City

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST IX) is set toopen the2016Regional Science and Technology (S&T) Week to the public on July 25-27 at the Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Sports Center in Dipolog City.

DOST Regional Director Brenda L. Nazareth-Manzanosays that this event, aside from showcasing the department's top technologies and services, is also geared towardbringing together peopleof different ideologies and interests with the intention of inspiring them, to perhaps become the nation's next great scientific mind.

Aptly themed,“Juan Science, One Nation”, the event will feature the agency's leading technologies, designed to address sixDOST committed outcome areas that have been identified to be integral in both national development and global competitiveness.

These  six outcome areas are Industry Competitiveness highlighting DOST-IX's laboratory innovations and services, namely: Enterprise Development - showcases the agency's contributions in bolstering economic development; Health & Nutrition - features advancements developed to improve the Filipino's quality of life; IT-BPM & eGovernment - puts the spotlight on innovations in the field on information technology; Education &Research - focuses on programs and projects geared towards academics and learning, and Disaster Preparedness - which puts developments in environmental awareness and safety front and center.

DOST IX will offer 50% discount on selected Regional Standards & Testing Laboratory (RSTL) services and samples for the duration of the 3-day event.

Apart from the aforementioned exhibits, various technical sessions on Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and Disaster Management are also lined up.
