DIPOLOG CITY -
Thirty-six members of the Dipolog City Police Office (DCPO)and Special Weapons
Assault Team are presently undergoing a bomb awareness seminar at the City Police
Station.
Dipolog City Police Chief,
PSupt. Lito L. Andaya said the one-week seminar is being conducted by a team
coming from the Regional Public Safety Battalion Explosive Ordinance Disposal
Management Team-9, headed by SPO4 Jonathan Nodado.
Andaya said the
increasing numbers of visitors coming into the city as well as the big number of business establishments here
prompted him to request RPB-EODMT thru Zamboanga del Norte PNP Provincial
Director, SSupt Edwin Wagan to conduct bomb awareness training to his men.
The police officer
believes that thru the training, elements of DCPO would be able to enhance
their skills in identifying bombs and the extent of damage that it would create
once it explodes. As first responder, the police officer trained on bomb
awareness is expected to take precautionary measure relative to the incident,
such as crowd-control, taking into consideration the strength of the bomb
discovered.
According to Andaya, thru
this training, the PNP will be able to handle the situation professionally and
efficiently and take appropriate measure in the given situation.
Nodado, for his part,
said the initiative is so timely. “Our team is happy to be part of this
endeavor to make Dipolog City a much
safer place for one to visit.
