Pag-IBIG Fund sponsors mass civil wedding

By Jocelyn P. Alvarez

ZAMBOANGA CITY  - Now on its fourth year, Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund sponsors mass civil wedding dubbed “I do. I do” on Feb. 12 this year.

Cora Mamauag of Pag-IBIG said only the first 150 couples who will submit complete documents will be illegible for the free civil wedding.

“It will be on a first come first serve basis, as of today, January 14, we have 15 couples who registered for the ‘I do. I do’ civil mass wedding. I encourage other couples to avail of this wonderful offer,” she said.

Couples who will register for the I do. I do shall get free symbolic ring, bouquet for the bride, food and give aways/souvenirs  and a chance of a lifetime  to win a house and lot and a Kabuhayan Package.

“Ang mananalo ng house and lot ay bibigyan ng opportunity mag choose kung saang location ng property ang gusto nila-any part sa Pilipinas since this is a nationwide activity,” Mamauag said.

(Those who will win house and lot have the opportunity to choose the place they want since this is a nationwide activity.)

One of the acquired assets of Pag-IBIG fund will be given to the winning couple of the house and lot.
The civil mass wedding will be held in a historic place “so it will be somewhere in Pasonanca Park, dahil historic yung lugar (because the place is historic),” Mamauag said.

To qualify for the free civil wedding, Mamauag said, at least one of them (couple) should be an active Pag-IBIG member. If not yet a member, he/she can apply to be a member before the Feb. 12 wedding.

For those living together for at least 5 years, they should secure affidavit of cohabitation from NSO; birth certificate and Certificate of no marriage (Cenomar) from NSO; parents consent if couples are ages between 18-21.

For those living together for less than a year, marriage license is a requirement and for those who will be renewing their vows, marriage contract from NSO is required.

“These requirements should be ready and on hand when they go to Pag-IBIG for Ido Ido application or registration bago namin sila bigyan ng “libreng kasal registration form” . The form is available only in our branch, it cannot be downloaded, kaya dapat pumunta talaga sila sa office,” clarified Mamauag.

A pair of sponsors is allowed in the mass wedding celebration and the couples are required to be in their white attire during the wedding.
