ZAMBOANGA CITY - Taking into consideration the Zamboanga
standoff which displaced a number of workers, the Department of Labor and
Employment (DOLE)-Zamboanga City field office
in partnership with the city government here will conduct a job fair on
Dec. 5 at the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Training Center, Pettit Barracks this
city.
The job fair, which will be participated in by 33 local and
overseas recruitment agencies, will also highlight DOLE’s 80th anniversary.
Some 34,615 job vacancies await skilled workers such as engineers, drivers,
receptionist, cashiers, cooks, electricians, factory workers, customer service
representatives, IT administrators, sales ladies/clerk, caregivers, instructors,
mechanical/electronic technicians and health service workers.
DOLE-9 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano emphasized that
this job fair is just timely saying “we have to cater to the increasing needs
of our clientele. This is one way of alleviating the sufferings that the
Zamboanguenos have experienced.”
“The
conduct of this Job Fair is one avenue to promote gainful employment not only
to those affected by the siege, but to those who continuously seek greener
pastures as well,” Cano said.
