DIPOLOG CITY – The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines in partnership with the
Universal Harvester, Incorporated will be launching the search for “The
Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines” or TOFARM on Dec. 6, 2013 at the Top Plaza
Hotel this city.
Farmers’ cooperatives or
associations, irrigators, fisherfolks and livestock raisers, municipal
agriculturist, agricultural technicians and local media are invited to attend
the said activity which will start at 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
The search is an
initiative of the Philippine Jaycees now JCI Philippines in recognition of the
resiliency, ingenuity, and the strength of working Filipino farmers. This award
started in the 70s.
It is open to all Filipino
farmers, fisherfolks, animal raisers, organizations, cooperatives, farm
communities, academe, agriculture scientist, public employees, and business
entities in rural and urban areas.
The search also seeks to encourage the youth to venture in agriculture and to stimulate investment and scientific researches to achieve sustainable food supply.

Moreover, the award aims
to promote farming as a noble and
profitable undertaking by strengthening advocacy and support for agriculture.
It
also recognizes best practices, techniques and technology in farming and, at
the same time, raises funds to support capacity building and laboratory
