DIPOLOG CITY - The provincial office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Zamboanga del Norte has recently turned-over one unit passenger van to the porters association here.

DOLE-9 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano turned-over the passenger van to the Dipolog City Skycap Porters Association through its president, Victoriano D. Victoriano, in a simple turnover ceremony held at Dipolog City airport last Nov. 21.

The P210,000 Suzuki passenger van, with plate no. JEV 351, together with its registration documents was turned-over to the association during the culmination of the three-month series of trainings conducted by the 3Y member-agencies to the porters.

Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy together with 19 representatives from the private sector and other government agencies under the 3Y program witnessed the vehicle turnover.

3Y program stands for LocalitY, IndustrY, and Service QualitY.

In her message, Mayor Uy urged the members of the association to take good care of the unit and used it to cater to the needs of the incoming domestic and foreign tourists. She also assured the association of the city government’s continued support to the program.

In his acceptance speech, Victoriano also assured the donor agencies of the association’s commitment to use and maintain the vehicle.

Earlier, the DOLE with the 3Y members through its Workers Development Program conducted a three-month training to the members of the association on NC II Driving cum auto-Servicing, Tourism-related trainings, organizational and financial management, and health and hygiene.

Director Cano was hopeful that the 3Y program, which advocates the promotion of quality service and customer satisfaction, would boost the tourism industry in Zamboanga del Norte and thereby improving the porters’ income. (FPG/ATR/PIA9-Zambo. Norte with report from MegzLigutom-DOLE-ZN)
