DIPOLOG CITY - The provincial office of the
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Zamboanga del Norte has recently
turned-over one unit passenger van to the porters association here.

Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano turned-over the passenger van to the Dipolog
City Skycap Porters Association through its president, Victoriano D. Victoriano,
in a simple turnover ceremony held at Dipolog City airport last Nov. 21.
The
P210,000 Suzuki passenger van, with plate no. JEV 351, together with its
registration documents was turned-over to the association during the
culmination of the three-month series of trainings conducted by the 3Y member-agencies
to the porters.
Dipolog
City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy together with 19 representatives from the private
sector and other government agencies under the 3Y program witnessed the vehicle
turnover.
3Y
program stands for LocalitY, IndustrY, and Service QualitY.
In
her message, Mayor Uy urged the members of the association to take good care of
the unit and used it to cater to the needs of the incoming domestic and foreign
tourists. She also assured the association of the city government’s continued support
to the program.
In
his acceptance speech, Victoriano also assured the donor agencies of the association’s
commitment to use and maintain the vehicle.
Earlier,
the DOLE with the 3Y members through its Workers Development Program conducted
a three-month training to the members of the association on NC II Driving cum
auto-Servicing, Tourism-related trainings, organizational and financial
management, and health and hygiene.
Director
Cano was hopeful that the 3Y program, which advocates the promotion of quality
service and customer satisfaction, would boost the tourism industry in
Zamboanga del Norte and thereby improving the porters’ income. (FPG/ATR/PIA9-Zambo.
