DepEd-Zanorte conducts mass training for Grade II K - 12 teachers

DIPOLOG CITY - The Department of Education, Zamboanga del Norte Schools Division  recently conducted a “Mass Training for Grade !! K to 12 teachers.

The one-week training participated in by 360 Grade II teachers from the different municipalities of Zamboanga del Norte was held on May 27-31, 2013 at Top Plaza Hotel, this city.

The scope of the training included: (1) Use of Mother Tongue or L1as the Medium of Instruction which serves as the tool in bridging Language 2 (L2) which is Filipino, and Language 3 (L3) which is English; (2) Teaching Strategies and Approaches, and instructional materials; (3) Assessment tools; and Framing and Making Lesson Plans and Proper Classroom Management.

Ms. Lourma Poculan,  Assistant Schools Division Superintendent said the one-week seminar aimed to enhance the expertise of teachers and equip them on the new innovation of the basic education curriculum.

According to Poculan, the training is so vital among Grade II K to 12 teachers since it deals with the use of mother tongue as one of the medium of instruction and used as a tool in bridging Language 2 and Language 3.

Madelyn Roda, Grade II teacher from Femagas Elementary School of Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte was thankful to the DepEd Provincial Schools Division Office for conducting the seminar. “It enriched our knowledge on basic education and teaching skills, used approaches and instructional materials that will be suitable to the level and needs of the learners, and utilized the appropriate assessment tools in evaluating the performance of our students.” she said.


Poculan, who was also the keynote speaker during the closing ceremony hoped that teachers will impart to the young children what they have learned during the one-week training. (PIA9)
