Dipolog City, Jan. 25 (PIA) - - Rosemarie
P. Miranda, the City Civil Registrar here has announced the conduct of the annual
mass wedding to unmarried couples on
March 2, 2013 year at Dipolog City
Sports Complex.
The
Local Civil Register has come up with this program on the basis of Art. II Sec. 12 of the 1987
Constitution recognizing the sanctity of
family life as a basic autonomous social institution.
“This program is my initiative from the time I
assumed this office and it is now an annual activity as part of the governmental
program for the service of the public,” Miranda explained in a phone interview.
Marriage
is the legal bond between the husband and the wife. As provided for under Art.
I of the Family Code, it is a special contract of
permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law
for the establishment of conjugal and family life.
“It
was customary that the mass wedding would be held every Valentine’s Day or
during the month of February. But because of the hectic schedule, it was moved
to March 2,” said Miranda.
“Couples
interested to avail themselves of this service should visit the Civil Registrar’s
Office to be able to comply with all requisites,” Miranda told the local press.
Moreover, parents are
urged to register their children with the Civil Registrar’s Office this coming
Feb. 8, which is free of charge in consonance with this month’s celebration as
of civil registration month.
“Birth
Registry is the primary and most important document to be possessed by a
person, that’s why I’m urging parents to take advantage of this free birth
registration,” Miranda concluded. (FPG/MAA/PIA9-Zamboanga
