BAYOG, Zamboanga del Sur, 16 Nov (PIA) –
To streamline the business permit and licensing system of the local government units, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently conducted an orientation on Business Permit and Licensing System (BPLS) in this municipality.
The orientation was attended by some LGU personnel involved in the issuance of business permits in the said municipality.
Aside from the orientation, an assessment of the existing BPLS and designing of the streamlined BPLS was also conducted and facilitated by Roger Sarsalejo, chief Trade and Industry Specialist together with Lindsay Regalado of the DTI Provincial Office based in Pagadian City.
It can be recalled, that this LGU started to employ BPLS since 2009. According to Miguela B. Arnoco, Municipal Treasurer, “collection of revenues increased since it started to use the system.”
During the assessment, it was found out that the existing BPLS of the LGU takes two hours and 30 minutes with at least 20 signatories to be able to process a business permit. But inspite of that, Sarsalejo still recommends to follow the national standards on the number of steps and signatories for the latter has lesser number of steps. (JPA/BAG/CAL/PIA9)
