Rotary Club distributes wheel chairs to persons with disabilities

By Gideon C. Corgue

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Sept. 25 (PIA) – Beaming with smiles, at least five persons with disabilities (PWDs) received new wheel chairs from the Rotary Club of Pagadian West on Friday during the turn-over ceremony held at Executive Function Hall at the Provincial Capitol Complex here.
I am very happy to be chosen as one of those recipients of the wheel chairs.  Finally, my old wheel chair will now be replaced by a new one”, said John in vernacular.

John is a 12 year old physically handicapped child who is in his 2nd grade in elementary.

Rose Señoron , John’s grand mother said she heartily thanked the Rotary Club of Pagadian West for giving her grandson a new wheel chair.

“This is of great help to him.  I will no longer accompany him in going to school because my body is already weak,” Señoron said in Visayan.

Rotary Club of Pagadian West president Nasrollah Conding said the distribution of wheel chairs is the club’s initiative and their project to the needy communities dubbed “Wheel Chair for All”.  It is also anchored with the Rotary’s slogan “Bring Peace thru Services.”

Conding said the club hopes to see people especially from the underprivileged sector to live a happy, peaceful and better life.

“We hold with our optimism and belief that with our community service we can unite, bring peace and happiness to our people,” Conding, the newly elected president said.

Conding said, aside from the 5 wheelchairs they have distributed to 3 children and 2 adult beneficiaries,  “there are still 40 wheel chairs coming and will be distributed before the year ends.”

Among those PWDs who received the wheel chairs were: Japet Dag-uman of barangay Balangasan, Francsico Teves, San Jose, and Rene Toledo, Buenavista, all of Pagadian City. (JPA/GCC/PIA,Pagadian City)
