ISABELA CITY, Basilan, June 15 (PIA) – An inter-agency supported
training program for rubber farmers of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay will soon be
implemented to boost their capacity to increase production.
In a press release, DOLE-Sibugay Communications Officer Edyllgrace
Poligrates disclosed that a joint meeting was held recently in partnership with
the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA) and the
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to discuss the
details of the 5-day skills development training.
Poligrates said that the Local Government of Siay is moving forward to
advance the technological knowledge, entrepreneurial skills and strong human
relations of rubber farmers in the municipality through the convergence of
national agencies’ services to support the Capacity Building, Workers
Organization and Development Training Program.
The farmers will undergo the new training regulation of TESDA on Rubber
Tapping which aims to enable farmers to qualify for the National Competency on
Rubber Tapping. DTI will focus on the entrepreneurial skills development and
marketing strategies.
DOLE will facilitate the development of strong human relations of rubber
farm workers and discuss productivity in the rubber farms.
The first batch of the training is set on June
18-22, 2012 for 100 rubber farm workers and rubber tappers, which will be held
at the Pastoral Center in Poblacion, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, as part of the
Araw ng Sibugay Celebration. A total of 1000 rubber farmers are expected to
