Pagadian to join the entire nation in the celebration of ‘Araw ng Kagitingan” on Monday

PAGADIAN CITY, April 9 (PIA) -- Officials and employees of provincial and city government, national government agencies, civic and non-government organizations on Monday, April 9 at 7:00am will converge in front of Rizal monument, city hall complex here to celebrate the “Araw ng Kagitingan” (Day of Valor) with this year’s theme “Beterano: Tagasulong ng Tunay at Walang Humpay na Pagbabago”.

City administrator Rufino Amor said the event will be graced with the presence of the guests, namely: 1st Infanty (TABAK) division commander BGen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz III, Governor Antonio H. Cerilles, Mayor Samuel S. Co, and ZamboSur Veterans District commander Claudio F. Porio, who will give also their respective messages.

Amor said the city government who used to celebrate significant occasions since in time immemorial will encourage the participants to instill in their hearts and minds the greatness of Filipino fighters during World War II who valiantly fought for the country’s freedom and independence.

The City Administrator said majority of participants will be composed of city government employees who will wear their office uniforms.

Amor said the messages, laying of floral offerings at the veteran’s marker, and the simultaneous singing of “Pilipinas Kong Mahal” would help each participant to remember the bravery and sacrifices of our war veterans who laid down their lives for our country. “The celebration would remind us that they are dear to us,” Amor added.
