Dipolog SP supports DCCI’s call for immediate police action on kidnappings

by Alfonso T. Ruda

DIPOLOG CITY, APR. 13(PIA)---The Dipolog City Government has supported the appeal of Dipolog City Chamber of Commerce and Industry urging the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other government authorities to resolve the spate of kidnappings in the province.

During the recent session of the Dipolog City Sangunniang Panlungsod, Councilor James Cyril Ruiz passed a resolution supporting the call of the local chamber urging police authorities to take immediate action on the kidnapping of Salug Mayor Jeffrey Lim who was abducted at the bus terminal in his own municipality on the evening of April 2.

Ruiz cited the cases of two other kidnap-victims, who have been freed from their captivity like Franc Oliver, a businessman from this city and the grandson of former Mayors Berto and Bechu Uy of Liloy. Both are now with their families but their abductors are still unidentified and are going around freely.

Ruiz stressed that it is high time that law enforcers be reminded of their basic functions to address all these crimes and put the culprits behind the bar of justice.

The recent kidnapping of Mayor Lim has not only alarmed the Filipino-Chinese and the business community but the Local Chief Executives as well.

Presently, Joint AFP/PNP Task Force Jeffrey is still conducting hot pursuit against the abductors of Mayor Lim in the boundaries of the municipalities of Salug, Leon Postigo, Godod, and nearby municipalities, where he is believed being kept by his abductors.(ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
