PAF Commanding General visits WESCOM

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Feb 13 (PIA) – The new Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force (CGPAF), MGen Lauro Catalino dela Cruz (AFP) made his first official visit to the Western Command (WESCOM) in Palawan last February 1.

The 6th Civil Relations Group reported that after his courtesy call to LtGen Juancho M Sabban (AFP), he proceeded to the 570th Composite Tactical Wing (CTW) accompanied by its Wing Commander, BGen Esteban Castro (AFP). There he met with the men and women of the 570th CTW.

Dela Cruz stressed the importance of discipline to the soldiers. He wants everybody to go back to basics when it comes to “discipline in their actions, their time, the way they dress, and others that pertain to the good projection of a soldier”. He also gave a directive that prohibits drugs and that the use of these substances will not be tolerated and will be dealt with swiftly and effectively to the fullest extent provided for by law.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation to all Palaweños on their continuous support and cooperation to the Philippine Air Force’s projects and endeavors.

Dela Cruz assumed his post as the 32nd Philippine Air Force Chief on January 10, 2012. During his assumption speech, he vowed that the PAF will be the wings of peace and defenders of freedom. He is also committed to strengthen the inner core values of integrity, service above self, teamwork and professionalism. He also ensured the PAF’s capability and credibility in defending the country’s territorial integrity by pursuing programs that will upgrade the PAF.
  
This year, the Philippine Air Force is slated to receive air assets that would greatly boost the morale of its people and their capacity in guarding the Philippines’ skies. (6CRGAFP/RVC-PIA9 ZBST)
