by Jocelyn P. Alvarez

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 17 (PIA 9) - - State owned- Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) gets the health department’s priority attention for development.
Department of Health (DOH) has listed ZCMC as a priority hospital to get physical development, equipment upgrade, health services upgrade and other assistance said Regional Director Aristides Tan.

He said, this year, DOH will channel some of its resources in bolstering ZCMC as he admitted that the hospital needs to further upgrade its facilities.
The medical center caters to a large number of patients not only from this city but from other parts of the region as well.

Tan explained, under the devolved plan of DOH, the previous year (2011) was focused at strengthening its grassroots health facilities like district hospitals, day care centers, and maternity clinics and this year, DOH will focus on the improvement of the ZCMC.

Tan also lauded the efforts of Zamboanga City’s political leaders for pouring in funds to upgrade the hospital’s facilities and medical resources. (JPA / PIA ZBST)
