DIPOLOG CITY - Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. has vowed to speed up resolution of election cases filed with his office.
In a media interview held here this morning, Brillantes said he wanted all election cases to be immediately resolved so that it will not take too long for any litigant to wait before he/she can sit as a duly elected public official.
“This was what I fought for when I was an election lawyer,” said Brillantes adding that “some duly elected officials were only able to sit a month or two before the next elections.”
Brillantes also assured the public that as long as he is the Comelec chair, he will always make the balloting in the country clean and honest.
The Comelec chair came over to grace the holding of a friendship game among region 9 election officers in Dapitan City yesterday.
Brillantes is currently doing visits to all regions/provinces to meet his people and see for himself the actual operations in the field. (NBE/FPG/PIA-Zambo. Norte)
