DIPOLOG CITY, NOV. 17(PIA)--- The military has once again proven that they are not only combatants but also advocates of peace.

This, after the elements of the Philippine Army’s 101st Infantry Brigade conducted a Student Awareness Symposium at the Public Market of Barangay Alvinda, Mutia, Zamboanga del Norte recently.

1Lt. Elna Ban, 101st Civil-Military Operations said the Civil Military Operation Task Unit of Task Group Red Arrows of the 101st Brigade conducted a lecture and film-showing among the students of Mutia National High School-Alvinda Extension- an activity which was welcomed by both the teachers and students.

Ms Anamie Cayetano, 3rd Year student of Mutia National High School said, the symposium gave them additional knowledge that would guide them in their everyday lives. She also promised to re-echo the same information to her parents on the real mission of the military’s presence in their community.

During the open forum, Captain Alberto Ramirez stressed the importance of education and urged the students to be vigilant on the effort of the rebels to recruit new members in the community.

He further elaborated the role of the army and the significance of their presence in the community.

Ramirez assured local residents of the army’s readiness and willingness to cooperate, in collaboration with the academe in the locality and reach out to the youth and assist in their studies for the benefit of the local populace, particularly those living in the far-flung barangays.
