DIPOLOG CITY, Oct. 7 (PIA) -- Secretary Jesse M. Robredo of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has urged all the local chief executives (LCEs) across the country to support and spearhead the children’s month celebration in their respective jurisdictions this month.
In his recent memorandum to the governors, city/municipal mayors, barangay chairmen, Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons, DILG regional directors and field officers, Secretary Robredo has enjoined them to undertake activities in support of the national children’s month which is celebrated every October of each year pursuant to Proclamation No. 267 dated September 30, 1993.
The government recognizes the Filipino children as the most valuable asset of the nation and their vital role in nation-building.
The theme for this year’s children’s month celebration is, “Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Para Sa Bright Child: Pakilusin, Palakasin, Pagtulungan Natin.”
During the month-long celebration, the LCEs are also expected to deliver their annual State of the Children’s Report (SCR) stating, among others, the programs and projects pursued by their respective local government units (LGUs) for the furtherance of the children’s welfare and development.
Child-friendly activities such as art contest, children’s fair, photo exhibit, film showing, camping, medical missions and others are also encouraged to be conducted by the LGUs.
A report on all the activities undertaken during the children’s month by each LGU shall be submitted to the council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) through the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) within a month after the said events. (JPA/FPG/PIA-Zambo. Norte)
