DIPOLOG CITY, FEB. 12(PIA)--- The City of Dipolog has yet to celebrate its founding anniversary this year. But this early, the City Government of Dipolog is already preparing for its Centennial Festivities next year.
The Executive Committee headed by Mayor Evelyn T. Uy in series of consultation meetings with its members coming from the multi-sectoral groups of the community, has already lined-up several activities that would highlight the100th Founding Anniversary celebration which would commence on July 1, 2013.
Initially steering the centennial celebration is the on-going Logo Design Competition for the Centennial celebration and Swigapore 2030 and the Centennial Songwriting Contest whose deadline is on February 29 this yeawr.
The winning piece in both competitions which will be known on March 15. Will be the official logo and music for all communications and promotional activities of the City Government of Dipolog until its 100th founding anniversary celebration on July 1, 2013.
Other highlighted activities are the printing of a coffee table book; the establishment of a Heritage Center for Dipolog; conduct of Tunog-tugan; 2012(International Festival of Gongs and bamboos) of the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts; Balik-Du-aw Program for Dipolognons(domestic and international); Pangadlaw Awards; concert of the Manila Symphony Quartert; stage play competition (re-enactment of Dipolog History); invitational triathlon(swimming-running-cycling); national ultimate Frisbee tournament; other sports events; art and cultural shows; invitational ATV competition; national off-road competition; national jigathon festival; and other cultural sports and sports activities that would draw the attention of all sectors to give support and cooperation for the successful holding of the lined-up activities for the centennial celebration.(ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
