Zanorte PPOC approves the creation of a Task Force against illegal drugs

DIPOLOG CITY, FEB. 12(PIA)---  The Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Peace and Order has recently approved the creation a Task Force against illegal drugs in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.

Intelligence Officer-2 Jury Rocamora, Provincial Drug Enforcement Officer in Zamboanga del Norte presented the proposal to the PPOC during its first Quarterly Meeting this year.

The proposed Zanorte Task Force Kontra Droga aims to strengthen the coordination and integration of concerned governmental offices and private sector in terms of planning and implementation of the provincial anti-illegal drug campaign. It will also maximize the resources and expertise of all law enforcement agencies in addressing the problem of drug abuse and trafficking in the province.

During the PPOC meeting, Rocamora admitted the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province coming from Ozamis City and Marawi City which are usually transported by land.

Among the offices suggested to composed the Task Force Kontra Droga are the Office of the Governor, PDEA, PNP, NBI, Phil. Army, DILG, DepEd, DOH, DSWD, BJMP, Provincial Prosecutor’s Office; Provincial Attorney’s Office, SK Provincial Federation, Association of Barangay Captains, and the Private Sector.

PDEA also recommends the neutralization of high-value targets; conduct of barangay drug-clearing operations; activate Anti-Drug Abuse Council; establishment of sustainable preventive education and community involvement programs, establishment of Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Desk and continuing professional education  program for the operatives .

In its report, Rocamora highlighted the accomplishment of PDEA-Zamboanga del Norte in 2011. These include the 35 operations which resulted to the arrest of 49 individuals and the filing of appropriate cases in court, as well as the conduct of other anti-illegal drug education campaign in the different schools and barangays in the province.(ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
