BASILAN JOINS LAUNCH OF CRDA FOR ARMM


Various national government agencies and local government officials and employees, students, out-of-school-youth, farmers and beneficiaries attended the Launching Ceremony of Comprehensive Reform and Development for Zamboanga Sibugay, held today, October 29 at Sanito Covered Court, Barangay Sanito, Ipil town.


In line with the campaign of the present administration against illegal drugs, DILG provincial director Genodino Abong said the department will organize the so called MASAMASID or "Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomaliya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Illiegal Droga" down to the barangay level. Abong said it will be composed of barangay captains, civil society organizations and religious groups, and other sectors of society. The official regional launch will be on November 9 in Zamboanga City.

BFAR awards this afternoon one fiber glass boat and five complete sets for fishing to local fishermen in Zamboanga del Norte.


ZAMBOANGA CITY: BFAR has been implementing different programs to help the fishing sector, especially the fishermen, said chief of production division Mr. Malli Usman. They have been providing fiber-glass bancas for the fishers. BFAR commits to donate 100 units of said bancas that will help the fishers in two different districts of the city.


Agriculture programs in the region include the rice, corn, high value crops and livestock development programs. These programs will help farmers rise from poverty, said Department of Agriculture regional director Constancio Alama, in suppport of Pres. Duterte's reform agenda to alleviate poverty in the region.


DILG assistant regional director Pedro Cuevas emphasized that they have Php31-million worth of projects-alleviation projects under the bottoms-up budgeting, in support of Pres. Duterte's reform agenda to alleviate poverty in the region.


ZAMBOANGA CITY: Josefina Reyes of DSWD said 31,000 die due to malnutrition because of poverty. The reform agenda of Pres. Duterte is a welcome development for Mindanao, considering we have 10 of the poorest towns in the country. DSWD aims to liberate the schoolchildren from malnutrition.


ZAMBOANGA CITY: Although thankful for being included in Pres. Duterte's reform and development agenda, Councilor Pinpin Pareja, on behalf of Mayor Beng Climaco said "we take exception to the branding of Zamboanga City as conflict affected place. Passengers of the said boat are reportedly safe and hauled towards undisclosed lodging place.

Phil Army 4SFB Commander LTC Andrew Bacala Jr said at the peace event in Masula Weds that the military has surveyed the destroyed box culvert crossing a major road in Masula Brgy in Isabela City & that they will source out some donors who can help fix the box culvert soon. 6 ASG KIDNAP VICTIMS FREED OVER THE WEEKEND. Filipino Abu Sayyaf kidnap victims Daniela Taruc and Levy Gonzales were freed last night in Sulu, following intensified military operations in Sulu, Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) spokesperson Maj. Filemon Tan said. Four other kidnap victims were released over the weekend, including Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad, Indonesian fishermen Lorence Koten, Teo Doros Kofong and Emmanuel Arakian. Help from the MNLF was instrumental in the recent successful operations against the terrorist ASG, Maj. Tan said.

“Ako ay nakiki-usap sa lahat (I am appealing to everyone), I am pleading for peace pati sa mga Abu Sayyaf (even to the Abu Sayyafs). You have committed so many crimes, killing people unnecessarily,” he said, adding that government troops will continue to be deployed in Basilan because of kidnapping and killing.

In observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources IX (DENR-9) Regional Office based at the Pres. Corazon C. Aquino Regional Government Center, Balintawak, Pagadian City on Wednesday (July 20, 2016) conducted an earthquake drill participated by all its officials and employees. The drill was being observed by the representatives of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP)


In support to the observance of National Disaster Consciousness Month, DENR-9 Regional Office conducted today an earthquake drill at its office at the Pres. Corazon C. Aquino Regional Government Center, Balintawak, Pagadian City with more than 100 officials and employees participated in the drill.


The Pagadian City government on Wednesday, July 20 culminates the weeklong observance of the 38th National Disability Prevention Week with a simple program held at Covered Court, Pagadian City. The culmination activity turned out to be a very memorable event for officers and members of Pagadian City Federation of Disabled Persons, Inc. where they had the opportunity to mingle and associate with one another and enjoyed the rest of the program with games and entertainment .

The Office of Civil Defense-BASULTA together with PIA-Basilan, Philippine Red Cross, DepEd-Basilan, & Claret School Maluso conducted Tues July 19 a Regl Simultaneous Earthquake Drill in Claret, Maluso. Over 700 students and teachers participated in the event.


1FAB Commanding Officer LtCol. Hubert S. Acierto said the 1FAB troopers are not only “expert cannoneers” but also expert in doing civil-military operations’ activities such as medical and dental civic action program, tree planting activity, etc. “We are here to support the national greening program of the government and to engage key stakeholders in promoting peace and stability,” Acierto announced.


Capt. Reynaldo Ricafort, civil-military operations officer of 1st Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army in his message said the trees play a very important role in our life. “The trees produce oxygen in our atmosphere. We cannot live without them,” he added.


The teaching staff and grade 6 students of Tabak Elementary School, Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday, July 19 actively participate the tree planting activity initiated by the 1st Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment and DXPR radio station, respectively. The convergence initiative is in support to the government’s National Greening Program (NGP).


The 1st Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army led by LtCol. Hubert S. Acierto, the commanding officer in collaboration with the DXPR radio station led by its station manager Melchor U. Coronel on Tuesday, July 19 conduct tree planting activity at Tabak Elementary School, Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur. A total of 200 mahogany seedlings were planted during the said event.

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Dr. Rolando Bucoy of Department of Health encouraged parents of school children to avail of the free deworming for students, adding that the albendazole chewable tablet is perfectly safe. Those who experience adverse reactions like stomachaches are manifestations of the presence of parasitic worms inside their bodies, and that the drugs are working. To avoid these reactions, he advised the parents to have their children eat breakfast before taking the drug. The DOH will also conduct school-based immunization within August.


ZAMBOANGA CITY: The National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week kicked off yesterday with an opening program at the City Coliseum. Mayor Beng Climaco inspired persons with disabilities to achieve in spite of challenges, saying that the government is there to help and guide them towards development. Meanwhile, Commission on Human Rights Regional Director Atty. Frederick Ian Capin said that PWDs who experience no discounts in business establishments and other forms of discrimination should come to their office for an official complaint.


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-9 launched the 2015 Listahanan database of poor families in the Zamboanga Peninsula region based from the assessment conducted to 704,872 households last year.
Listahanan or the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) database serves as the basis for selecting beneficiaries for social protection programs and services in the country.

Superintendent Michael P. Palermo, chief of Pagadian City Police Station said the Philippine National Police is more lenient with those who surrendered as they considered victims. Palermo also said the drug pushers/users were considered not as an addict but as a victim,”Palermo announced.


Some 300 self-confessed drug users and pushers from different barangays surrendered today, July 7 to Pagadian City mayor Romeo P. Pulmones and Supt. Michael M. Palermo, City PNP director at New Executive Function Hall, City Hall Complex. The drug personalities immediately take their oath before the city officials to stay away from using and selling drugs.

Out of the 200 passengers of the plane in which one Filipina nurse was found to be positive with the MERS-COV virus, 5 had connecting flights to Zamboanga, said City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos. "We were able to trace the 4, but the other one proceeded to Jolo." Accordingly, the 4 passengers now in Zamboanga were asymptomatic, meaning that they had no traces of the virus, but are still pending complete tests.




According to Zamboanga City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro this morning, full alert status will be maintained to thwart any possible threats to the peace and order here. Casimiro echoed Mayor Beng Climaco's statement to the public to refrain from spreading false rumors that cause undue panic among the residents which result to sacrificed business revenues due to temporary store closures and children's education due to unwarranted class suspension, among other consequences. Casimiro opined that children and students most probably spread false text messages to enjoy class suspension as a result.




In a press conference this morning, Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar reiterated that instead of sending and spreading false rumors through text or in any other medium, residents need to instead verify the facts either with phone numbers 166 or 117. The incident last week has caused several business establishments to close and parents to rush and fetch their children from school. Meanwhile, she assures that authorities are on top of the situation and reminds residents to be calm and vigilant amid all possible threats to security.
