By Gideon C. Corgue

PAGADIAN CITY, April 25 (PIA) -- Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX regional director Paisal Abutazil on Thursday congratulated the local government of Kumalarang under the able leadership of Mayor Allan Damas for having complied to the requirements of Seal of Good Housekeeping thereby making them a recipient of the agency’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

Speaking before the municipal and barangay officials, employees, and residents during the groundbreaking ceremony of the P700,000 worth of municipal streets at the Tennis Court, Abutazil said the Seal of Good Housekeeping is given to a local government unit (LGU) that demonstrated good governance, sound fiscal management, transparency, and accountability.

As a recipient to the LGSF, an LGU should meet the requirements of the Seal of Good Housekeeping, namely: compliance with the full disclosure policy and no adverse findings from the Commission on Audit (COA).

“These requirements were fully complied by your municipality thus you were chosen as one of the lucky recipients of the LGSF in the region,” he added.

The DILG chief encouraged the officials to continue complying to the requirements, for them to receive LGSF funded projects for next year.

Mayor Allan Damas, in his message, said that the LGSF-funded projects was a big help in implementing different infrastructure development projects.

Damas said the concrete pavement for municipal streets is the project that they have long dreamed of because during heavy rains, streets tend to be flooded in Poblacion, the mayor added.

With their faithful compliance and adherence to the full disclosure policy of the government, Damas is optimistic that they will be a consistent recipient of the projects and another municipal streets will be implemented in their municipality.

Also present during the ceremony was provincial director Abcede Asjali.
