CITY -The
National Food Authority(NFA) in
Zamboanga del Norte assures the consuming public of stable rice supply during
the lean season.
This was declared by NFA Provincial
Manager Julakmad J. Lawama who said that despite minimal produce during the lean
months of June to August, its office has enough rice supply.
Malou Kareen G. Sarenas, NFA Acting Information Officer said as of June 7,
2013, it has a total inventory of 41,700 bags of rice and 1,817 of palay.
According to Sarenas, NFA rice is
available to accredited retailers at P26.00 per kilo and P28.00 kilos per kilo
as the suggested government retail price to
consumers.
Meanwhile, NFA – Zamboanga del Norte
continues its aggressive palay-buying program to give reasonable price for the
farmers’ produce at the government support price of P17.00/kilo for clean and
dry, 14% moisture content, with the following incentives - “P0.30/kg for the cooperative member of any
Farmers’ Group; P0.20/kg drying fee; P0.20 hauling fee for 0-10 kilometer
distance from the farm; P0.30/kg for 10-20 kilometers from the farm; P0.40 for
20-30 kilometer distance from the farm; and P0.50/kg hauling fee for distance
beyond 30 kilometers from the farm. (PIA9)
