DIPOLOG CITY - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) successfully
conducted on Wednesday its Balik Eskwela Program to selected schools in
barangays where its transmission facilities are located.
Balik Eskwela is a nationwide
project of the NGCP which aims to strengthen its relations with the community
and, at the same time, to raise the level of awareness about the transmission
line safety and security measures.
“Our primary objective is
to reach out to the host communities or those near our transmission facilities expressing
our deep gratitude for continuously supporting and protecting our transmission
lines by giving students school supplies assistance package,” said NGCP Communication and
Public Affairs Officer Elizabeth Ladaga.
She added that this would also help in increasing
the level of awareness about the transmission lines safety and security not
only among the students but the parents, teachers, the locals and officials of
the community as well.
Meanwhile, the Zamboanga
del Norte Electric Cooperative (ZANECO) through its feeding program has partnered
with the NGCP for its corporate social responsibility projects like the Balik
Eskwela Program.
The Danao Elementary
School of Sergio Osmeña and Labrador Elementary School of Polanco were just two
of the 145 recipient-schools nationwide.
Danao Elementary School is
situated in the mountaintop of Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte, some 9
kilometers from the highway.
Some 110 students from
said schools received school supplies
with NGCP mascot and Transmission Line Safety and Security reminders on the
front and back covers of the notebooks, pencils and NGCP eco bags. (PIA9)
