PAGADIAN CITY - The Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) recently reported that the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) regional offices have conducted a total of 4,116 career guidance advocacy activities in 2012, posting an increase of 88.12 percent from the 2,188 activities in 2011.
For 2013, BLE targeted at least 4,528 advocacy activities to
be conducted in all the regions.
In a press statement, DOLE
Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz said that through these career guidance
activities, she expects that hundreds of thousands of students trooping to
colleges and universities this school year will already have a fair idea of the
labor market and will steer them towards right career choices.
"Right courses, coupled with other relevant labor market information, will eventually make ‘skills-fit’ and 'job-ready’ graduates," she said.
Secretary Baldoz also commended DOLE Regional Offices for their deliberate efforts in the conduct of a high profile, nationwide campaign on career guidance and employment coaching.
The main purpose of the activity is to establish a jobs-fit and productive labor force by guiding young students in identifying college courses, skills, and competencies towards the right careers.
The efforts of DOLE in addressing jobs and skills mismatch is in-line
with President Benigno S. Aquino III’s 22-point labor and employment agenda,
whose goal is to invest in the country’s human resource to make them more
competitive and employable. (PIA9)"Right courses, coupled with other relevant labor market information, will eventually make ‘skills-fit’ and 'job-ready’ graduates," she said.
