Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur June 5 (PIA) -- The provincial government
of Zamboanga del Sur and TVI Resource
Development, Inc. on Monday, June 4, 2012 signed a Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA), for a Public-Private Partnership livelihood projects (Organic Cassava Production, Rice Duck Farming
and Gulayan sa Kabuhayan at Paaralan) for the 28 barangays of Bayog, this
province.
Governor Antonio Cerilles who represents the province of Zamboanga
del Sur together with Rene Subido, TVI Vice President Corporate Social
Commitment signed the MOA, witnessed by Mayor
Leonardo Babasa, Jr. together with the barangay officials, teachers and some 800
residents of the municipality.
After the signing of the
agreement, the launching of the said
projects immediately followed. Other personalities who attended were Allan Cabatingan, Provincial Executive
Assistant III, Col. Valentino Edang, (Ret), OIC Site Manager-TVI Balabag and
Nerissa Corilla, TVI Program Officer Community Relations.
In his message Gov. Cerilles said, “Today pictures the end of
irresponsible mining in this municipality. For how many decades mining here
have no social acceptability. For how many years, miners do not pay taxes. They
mine just for themselves, for their future, and do not care about us and on its
social responsibility. I am happy that finally Bayog has now the sense of
responsible mining.”
He also disclosed that soon TVI will establish a hospital to cater
Bayog, Lakewood and Kumalarang and will help JH Cerilles State College to have
enough rooms for the students.
Meanwhile, there were 340 recipients of Organic Cassava Production
which will be under the supervision of the cassava coordinators of the province
and 35 puroks recipients of gulayan. The provincial and municipal
governments will continue to assist the
farmers until such time they will be
able to stand on their own.
On the other hand, Gov. Cerilles also attended the turn-over
ceremonies of some projects of TVI such as;
1 room school buildings of Barangay San Isidro and Dipili, water system
in Barangay Mataga, and rehabilitation of the Multipurpose building of Barangay
Depore, and the rehabilitation of multipurpose building of Barangay Salawagan which is still
going on.
Moreover, TVI also distributed school supplies to 10 impacted
barangays these are Dipili, Depore, Pulangbato, Bantal, Dimalinao, Depase,
