DIPOLOG CITY, MARCH 16(PIA)--- Anticipating possible occurrence of any crime inside an establishment, the members of the Dipolog City Sangguniang Panlungsod is now considering to require all business owners in the city to install closed-circuit television in their respective establishment.
In its recent session, the Sangguniang Panlungsod recognizes the need to install CCTV in all establishments to monitor all movements inside the establishment as well as to have a reliable source of information for an investigation to be conducted on any crime committed inside an establishment.
The idea of requiring all business establishments to have CCTV came about after it was observed that CCTV footages have been instrumental in identifying persons involved in crimeS committed inside a CCTV-monitored establishment.
The move of the City Council is also in compliance to Memorandum Circular 2012-38 issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government which directs all Local Chief Executives of the different cities and municipalities, including the barangay to ensure peace and order as well as expedite crime solution in their area through the use of CCTV.
Earlier, the Sangguniang Panlungsod crafted an ordinance requiring all banks in the city to install CCTV inside their building. However, city legislators thought it best to include the business establishments for the effective 24-hour monitoring of all happenings in the city.(ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
