ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Feb 10 (PIA) – The 212nd Marine Company of Marine Battalion Landing Team 12 (MBLT-12) scores anew with the apprehension of a motor launch, loaded with smuggled diesel fuel, while anchored at the vicinity of Barangay Taratak, Bataraza in Palawan recently.
The Naval Forces West (NFW) public affairs office disclosed that at about 4 o’clock in the afternoon Wednesday the navy received a report from concerned individuals on the said illegal activity.
Immediately, the elements of 212nd Marine Company, MBLT-12 proceeded to the area and conducted board and search to the subject motor launch to verify the information.
The board and search resulted to the seizure of thirty-two (32) drums of diesel fuel without pertinent documents and apprehension of three (3) crew members, identified as Aljeson Astami, Radeel Hamid and Toto Jukmin.
The fuel is said to be intended for contact buyers coming from Barangay Rio Tuba, Bataraza and its adjacent barangays. The seized diesel fuel was estimated to have a market value of Php 320,000.00.
The motor launch is now under the custody of 212nd Marine Company, MBLT12 in Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan along with its crew and contrabands pending its turnover to the concerned agency for filling of appropriate charges. (NFW/RVC-PIA9 ZBST)
