CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has announced during
the 1st Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development
Council (PMSMEDC) meeting held recently at Grandma’s Best here that the search
for the SME Rising Star Award is now open for nomination.
This
award will be conferred to outstanding MSMEs in the province with one awardee
from each enterprise.
Accordingly, the micro, small and medium enterprises
(MSMEs) represent the 99.6 percent of all businesses in the country, employing
61.2 percent of the total labor force.
SME Star Program aims to support and give due recognition
to outstanding MSMEs which persevere to improve their growth both in domestic
and foreign markets.
Business enterprises engaged in manufacturing,
agri-business, services and the creative industries can be nominated for the
said awards by any government agency and/or private organization.
Moreover, MSMEs may also submit self-nominations to the
provincial MSMED Council through the DTI-Provincial Office, which serves as
secretariat of PMSMEDC.
Any nominee must have an asset size of not more than P100
million at the time of nomination and be duly registered with appropriate
government agencies.
Other criteria would be the non-derogatory record,
operation for at least three years and preferably has to be in operation for not
more than four years of as a rising star awardee.
The selection of winners shall be based on growth in
sales, in employment, in investment and good practices shall be noted.
