Search is on for 10 most outstanding Red Cross youth members

DIPOLOG CITY —  The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Zamboanga del Norte Chapter announces the Search for 10 Most Outstanding Red Cross Youth (TORCY) members and School Council for the year 2014.

Youth members aged 12-25 with excellent and exemplary academic, community and extracurricular activities are encouraged to join the said nomination upon the recommendation of their Red Cross School Council.

A nominee should have undergone Leadership Development Training Program (LDP) and Standard First Aid Training; must be familiar with the history and guiding principles of the organization; and had paid the annual membership contribution.

“In order to qualify as a nominee, one must be a bonafide Philippine Red Cross member,” PRC-ZN Chapter Service Representative Nidoh Gen Regencia said in an interview.

Moreover, nominees should be Filipino citizen, fluent in English and Filipino languages, active in different services of PRC for at least two years and has not been convicted of a crime.

For the Best School Council category, one must accomplish the accreditation requirements and duly recognized by the PRC national office.

The general criteria for the Red Cross Youth category are the following: Academic Performance - 30%, Extra Curricular Activities - 30%, Red Cross Involvement  - 30%, Essay - 10%, for a total of 100%.

For the school council category, nominees will be judged according to the following criteria: Conduct of Red Cross Activities - 40 %, Participation to other NGO/ GO Activities - 30 %, and Participation to School Activities - 30% for a total of 100%.

Deadline for the submission of official nomination forms shall be on January 15, 2014 and submission of the requirements shall be on January 30, 2014.

The 15 finalists will be announced on February 7, 2014 and the awarding ceremony will be on April 15, 2014 in time for the celebration of Philippine Red Cross Day.


The 5 finalists will receive a medal and certificate of recognition while the 10 awardees will receive a medal, plaque and certificate of recognition. (PIA9)
