PAGADIAN CITY, 04 Feb
(PIA) – In pursuit of its goal to eradicate poverty through quality and
effective infrastructure facilities and services responsive to the needs of the
Filipino people, the Department Of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region IX
was allotted P6,252,079.00 for the implementation of 443 projects for Calendar Year
(CY) 2012.

Sebastian, Jr. reported as of December 31, 2012, 352 projects have been
completed, 63 are still on going and 28 are in the pre-construction stage with
an actual accomplishment of 84.64%.
Director Sebastian said
DPWH IX ranked No. 5 in the Over-all National Performance, for the current and
carry-over projects.
Aside from the regular
infrastructure projects and as part of
our commitment towards academic development, DPWH IX also implemented school
building projects under the Department of Education (DepEd) SB Program
amounting to P70,356,00 million. With 43 projects of 121 classrooms completed,
30 projects are on-going and 6 in the pre-construction stage with an actual
accomplishment of 66.02%, Sebastian said.
The office also completed 10 Rainwater Collector
System, 40 Flood Control and Drainage and 62 other building projects, he said.
Recognizing the need for a
convergence efforts in the implementation of the pro-poor program of the
national government, DPWH IX also implemented 10 projects amounting to P
1,216,900.00 billion in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) under
the Investment Support Program (ISP) or the stimulus project of President
Benigno S. Aquino III.
As of December 31, 2012,
five (5) projects were completed and the other five are expected to be
completed in 2013.
Despite the challenges in
the implementation of these projects, DPWH IX is taking the right course of
action to deliver quality infrastructure for the Zamboanga Peninsula Region. (ALT/DPWH
