By Bernadine Astillero Gabawan

BAYOG, Zamboanga del Sur, 04 Feb (PIA) – To efficiently respond to the growing concerns over talent mismatch, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zamboanga del Sur Field Office conducted last week an orientation on National Skill Registry System (NSRS) Program and turnover of Information Technology (IT) equipments at Glupa Gulian Agro-Tourism Park, Barangay Kahayagan of this town.

NSRS is a project initiated by DOLE, which is a web-based system that shall capture the pool of available skills/talents at the community level. It is a database containing the profiles of all persons looking for job, which shall be maintained by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the cities and municipalities.

NSRS is a subsystem of the Phil-JobNet System, designed to provide the “employers” or “employment service providers” with access to the list of qualified applicants who fit the skills requirements of a specific position.

The event was attended by DOLE officials  led by Lourdes B. Amores, chief LEO of ZdSFO, Lourdes E. Flosiza, senior LEO and Engr. Vicente B. Longcob, Administrative Aide VI, Mayor Leonardo Babasa, Jr., Engr. Cerilo Carcueva, Administrative Officer IV/PESO Manager together with the barangay chairmen and secretaries of the 28 barangays in the municipality.

Mayor Babasa expressed his thanks to the DOLE for bringing the program to Bayog. He said, “with this program, employment opportunities of our skilled workers will become higher, because employers will just refer to the NSRS in case their skills are needed.”

He also thanked the department for the IT equipments which would be very useful for the PESO manager and for the Kabuhayan Kits.

Registration forms were distributed to the barangay chairmen for their constituents who are interested to be registered in the NSRS.

On the same occassion, Kabuhayan Kits were given to Susan Jabiguero of Purok 9, Barangay Poblacion and Mary Grace Sonio and Marilou Talabing, all of Purok 4 in Barangay Kahayagan. (FPG/BAG/CAL/PIA9)
