DTI warns public on sub-standard Christmas décor

DIPOLOG CITY, NOV. 12(PIA)--- The Department of Trade and Industry in Zamboanga del Norte has reiterated its warning to the public to be vigilant n buying Christmas lights and other decorations for the Yuletide season.

The DTI issued the warning as people from all walks of life are now starting to buy Christmas lights and other Christmas décor.    

DTI-Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Head, Engr. Noel Bazan said, DTI personnel are now regularly monitoring the Christmas decors displayed a the various business establishments in the city if they have Import Commodity Clearance and Product Standard stickers.

Bazan said, establishments found violating the ICC and PS sticker requirements are issued Notice of Violation and formal charges are filed against the violators.

The DTI Provincial Director reminded the public to be extra-careful  and meticulous in buying Christmas lights and always see to it that it has ICC and PS stickers as there are unscrupulous business traders that offer sub-standard series of Christmas lights to the innocent-looking buyers.

He pointed out that as buyers, it is our responsibility to see to it that we buy the right product. All products that have passed DTI’s inspection are those that bear ICC stickers and PS mark. (ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
