ZAMBOANGA
CITY, Oct.16 (PIA) - - Cash rewards, research grants and trophies
await winners in the search for the well-deserved recipients of the PANTAS and
TANGLAW awards. The search is led by the Philippine Council for Agriculture,
Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) of the
Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Filipino scientists
and researchers, research administrators and institutions that have made
exemplary contributions for the advancement of agriculture, aquatic and natural
resources (AANR) in the Philippines are welcome to submit their entries.
The PANTAS award
seeks for the outstanding scientists/researchers and research administrators,
while the TANGLAW award looks for the laudable research institutions in the
areas of agriculture, aquatic and natural resources.
The
scientists/researchers will be evaluated for their significant contributions to
the advancement of Philippine agriculture, aquatic and natural resources.
Research administrators and institutions, on the other hand, are evaluated for
their effectiveness and efficiency in the identification and pursuit of
relevant research agenda with the end-in-view promoting national development
through the creative use of S&T. These awards are also a way of thanking
those who have shown commitment, dynamism and hardwork in doing various R&D
activities.
This year’s winners
will be joining the roster of great achievers in research and development
including 2010 Tanglaw Awardee: Philippine Rootcrops Research and Training
Center, and 2010 Pantas Awardees: Dr. Roberto Guarte, Visayas State
University’s (VSU) vice president for administration and finance
(scientist/researcher category) and Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, VSU President
(research administrator category).
Interested parties
must submit six (6) copies of duly endorsed PCAARRD PANTAS and TANGLAW
nomination forms with justification, comprehensive bio-data, and other
supporting documents to the Office of the Executive Director, PCAARRD, Los
Baños, Laguna on or before January 31, 2013.
Nomination
forms are available at the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office
No. IX (DOST-IX) at Pettit Barracks, Zamboanga City or you may download them
