DIPOLOG CITY, SEPT.
24(PIA)--- The
Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dipolog City has unanimously approved the resolution
calling for the creation of Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) team to assist
the local police force in the implementation of law enforcement in the city.
City
Councilor Ruiz, in his resolution urges Region IX Philippine National Police
Regional Director, Chief Superintendent Napoleon R. Estilles to create a
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team in Dipolog City to assist Dipolog City
PNP in rescue operations during emergency situation.
The
resolution was presented by Ruiz in the regular session of Sangguniang
Panlungsod on September 18, 2012 amidst the improving and economic condition of
the city.
It
was learned from the City Information Office that the Ruiz resolution batting
for the creation of a SWAT team in Dipolog City aims to establish a
well-trained and well-equipped personnel who would readily respond to the emergency
needs of the Dipolognons, most especially the victims of criminalities and
terroristic activities.
Ruiz
said that due to the existence of big business establishments and the
continuous construction of new big buildings and the presence of foreign
nationals in the city, makes imperative for the creation of SWAT to any
eventuality that may happen in the city.
Ruiz
added that like any other big cities, Dipolog City also need the presence of a
SWAT team to protect its people and visitors from lawless and criminal elements
and ensure peace and order in the locality.
